Can I have my country/currency added to the site?
We have the ability to support all countries and currencies.  For efficiency reasons, we only display the information that our Customers use the most.  If you would like your country or currency added to the site, simply contact us, and we will try our best to add it within 48 hours.  International or Non-USA businesses that ship to the United States are usually best suited for our Search Engine Listing service.

How are recurring events handled?
If your service is scheduled to recur, you will notice that your affair and/or gig management basket will have the next event occurrence re-confirmed once an order is placed.  Each occurrence needs to be ordered separately to allow for any changes that may arise (change in pricing, availability, etc).  Please note that Merchants must notify Customers of any changes BEFORE the next occurrence, as only Customers can cancel or initiate pricing changes for recurring events.

Please explain the Order History page.
Once logged in, you can visit our "Order History" page to check out all of your previous orders, as well as future payments expected from MyAffair.com.  Please note the following when viewing this page:

  1. Date-Range Selection
    This is the section where the user indicates the date range that they are interested in viewing.  The dates selected are very important because the charges, payments, and balances that will appear will ONLY be based on the transactions that occurred within the specified range.

  2. Dates
    Specifies the date on which the transaction was processed.  For payments, this is the date that the check will be mailed, or the funds deposited into your account.  Please allow a few days for their delivery.

  3. Order Numbers
    These are the unique identifiers in the database that are assigned to each transaction.  They can be clicked to view the receipt copies of the transactions.

  4. Descriptions
    These brief summaries provide information on the orders and/or payments made in order to assist the user in understanding each transaction.  Having any event and/or order numbers when viewing these descriptions is very helpful.

  5. Amounts
    Any payments made TO MyAffair.com will show up as negative values, while any payments made FROM MyAffair.com will come up as positive values.  Amounts are displayed in the currency the order was placed.

  6. Statuses
    All statuses refer to CUSTOMER payments.  In other words, if you are an independent contractor expecting a payment from MyAffair.com regarding a particular order, you may see the status for this order as "PAID" a few days before you have actually received a payment.  This is because the customer's funds have cleared and WE have been paid, therefore YOUR payment is in process.

  7. Balances
    These amounts take into consideration all the charges and/or payments listed on each page.  Please note that the balances reflect only those transactions contained on EACH PAGE for the specified date range selected.  For more balances try increasing your range of dates.

Can I remove an inappropriate review?
Once you are logged in, you can view your reviews and find the inappropriate review.  Find the review you would like removed, and click the "Change?" link beside it.  This will contact us regarding the review in question, and we will evaluate your concerns and determine if the review will be removed from the site.  This process may take some time, as we will try to contact the user who wrote the review and may have further questions for you as well.

How do I contact a Merchant?
Once you have viewed a Merchant's available services and would like to notify them of your of your interest to book them, all you have to do is add them to your "Affair Basket" by clicking on any one of the prices on their "Contact" page.  Once the Merchant is in your basket, you can attempt to reserve them, change the bid, cancel, or confirm the booking.

Are there any obligations when Merchants bid on my affair?
MyAffair.com was specifically built to put the power of the Internet at your fingertips.  By adding multiple Merchants to your Affair Basket, you can easily compare Merchants and re-negotiate until you get the best price.  There is NO OBLIGATION to order when Merchants respond to your inquiries.

How do I know if a Merchant is any good?
Your comfort is our priority, and we try our best to give you peace-of-mind.  Merchants have business listings where Customers can view their availability, pricing, and former reviews.  Not only are WE constantly reviewing our Merchants, but any and all Customers that have ever booked the Merchant can submit their reviews as well.  You will be able to check out all the reviews made by other Customers regarding each Merchant on our site.

Can I report offensive material found on a Merchant's listing?
Your comfort is our number one concern.  If you find any material that you consider offensive on ANY Merchant listing, simply scroll down to the absolute bottom of the "REVIEWS" page for their site and find the "Comments?" link.  This will contact us regarding the merchant in question, and we guarantee to take action as soon as we can.  We absolutely will NOT tolerate offensive material on our servers.  Thank you for helping us maintain our professionalism.

How much time before I need a service can I reserve its Merchants?
We recommend that you use this site AT LEAST 15 DAYS BEFORE YOU NEED THE SERVICES.  Currently, these are affairs which occur on or after Sunday, September 21, 2008.  This should allow enough time for all Merchants to be initially contacted, have them bid on your affair, and have us process your request.  We will offer alternatives for Customers that need a shorter processing time at a later date.  Stay tuned!

Can I pay with a Purchase Order?
Yes.  When you are ready to place an order, simply scroll down to the "Payment Information" section of your "Booking Verification" screen, and look for a Purchase Order link.  We do not accept them on ALL orders, so if the link appears, simply click it to begin the process.  Have your Purchase Order number ready.

Does MyAffair.com accept payment plans?
Yes.  We understand that you may not have all of the money for the services needed at once, so MyAffair.com allows you to pay for your services on a monthly basis until the total amount is paid in full.  For example, if you book a wedding photographer for $1000 and your wedding is 10 months away, MyAffair.com allows you to pay $100 a month until the full amount is paid.  Our system will automatically bill you if you select one of our no-interest payment plans on the order screen.  It's that easy!

How are refunds handled?
There are two types of refunds that can be requested:
  • Service Cancellation indicates that the Customer is interested in canceling all services, and would like to receive a refund from any payments they have made.  This will also cancel any future payments previously indicated in the order.

  • Service Change indicates that the Customer is interested in receiving a refund from payments made, but is still interested in the service at a different price or arrangement.
Customers can request a refund up to 7 days after the service is scheduled to be rendered.  If the request is made before this grace period ends, MyAffair.com will contact the appropriate Merchants regarding the refund or payment amount change, and the amounts will then be refunded or changed.  Please review our terms and conditions for further details.

You can shop with confidence knowing that your privacy and security are protected by MyAffair.com.  We have taken many measures to ensure you a comfortable and safe booking experience.  A few of these are:

Merchants are reviewed on a daily basis, and given ratings based on their professionalism and commitment to customer satisfaction.  This rating may be shown as a number of stars placed by a merchant's name.  Coupled with reviews from previous customers and the information on our merchant's listings, we hope that you feel 100% comfortable when contacting our merchants.

  2. By contacting several merchants simultaneously, you can compare their response time, their interest in you as a customer, and their commitment to provide you with the best service for the best price.

  3. Your privacy is always protected, as your email address and other contact information is not sent to any merchant without your permission.

  4. You are under NO OBLIGATION to hire the merchants you contact, although we hope that you find that they provide excellent services.

Do I have an Account Manager?

How do I know if my service is listed?
MyAffair.com can offer every service imaginable to its users.  We are always looking to expand our list of merchants, and therefore urge you to register with our site regardless (with the exception of any adult, gambling, and pharmaceutical businesses).  You can view our complete list and request any additions by visiting the "Merchant Profile" link found on your member homepage.  If you request a new service, you can expect it to be on MyAffair.com within 3-5 business days.

My business offers MANY services... can I still use MyAffair.com?
Of course you can.  Once you register onto our site, you can create as many different profiles as you want!  There are a few special cases where profiles must be set up separately... please read the scenarios below:
  • Multiple Availability Schedules
    If your services are conducted by different employees or contractors, where they can be at more than one place at the same time, then we suggest that you look into our "Account Manager" option and register multiple Merchant accounts.  This will not only allow each employee/contractor to have their own availability schedule, but by linking your accounts, you can manage all of your merchants AND receive a 20% commission when they get booked.  Please note that if you are already registered on this site, you do not have to re-register as an Affiliate.

  • Multiple Industries
    If your services span multiple industries (event-planning, construction, medical, etc.), then we suggest that you look into our "Account Manager" option and register multiple Merchant accounts.  This will allow each service to have business listings that TARGET each industry.  Also, by linking your accounts, you can manage all of your merchants AND receive a 20% commission when they get booked.  Please note that if you are already registered on this site, you do not have to re-register as an Affiliate.

  • Multiple Locations
    If you an offer services in distinct areas that are very far from one another (New York & Los Angeles, Chicago & Miami, etc.), then we suggest that you look into our "Account Manager" option and register multiple Merchant accounts.  This will allow each service to show up on the search results for each area, as we currently only allow businesses to span nearby states.  Also, by linking your accounts, you can manage all of your merchants AND receive a 20% commission when they get booked.  Please note that if you are already registered on this site, you do not have to re-register as an Affiliate.

Of course.  There are a few ways this can be done, all depending on your level of web programming knowledge (HTML).  Before using this code, you will need to know your Merchant Identification Number, found on your member homepage when you log in.
  1. Minimal HTML knowledge
    All you have to do is add the following line of HTML code to the top of your existing web page: "<META HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT="0;URL=http://www.MyAffair.com/-/w/xyz/">", where "xyz" is your Merchant-ID.  That's it!

  2. MyAffair.com Internet Services

How can I make my listing more appealing?
Websites are powerful marketing tools that give you the ability to reach a global audience.  Just like a flyer or an ad in the phone book, the primary goal of a website should be to draw the attention of your potential customers.  Thus, many of the same rules that apply to offline advertisements apply to building a website.  Here are a few tips for making a good website even better:
  • Colors
    When selecting colors, the key word to remember is READABILITY.  To achieve the best readability, make sure to select colors that contrast each other, and are gentle on the eyes.  You don't want customers leaving your website because of a bad choice in colors!  The key is NOT to choose colors based on how they look individually, but rather how they look when combined with the other colors on your page.  It might take a few tries to get it just right, but the time you put into it will be worth it, when customers flock to your website and pick you as their next service-provider.

I have my own pricelist... how can I post my prices on the web?
The general pricing in your profile is what customers use to search, but MyAffair.com allows you to add your own catalog online.  To access it, simply visit the "Custom Price Packages" link from your member homepage.  You can also reach this page by visiting your "Merchant Profile" page and clicking on the merchant type that best relates to your price-package.  This will bring you to the "Merchant Details" page where your default pricing is listed.  At the bottom of the page, follow the link for "your own price-list" and enter your information.  You can create an unlimited list of products and/or services to offer, and they automatically get added to your business listing.

I don't like displaying my prices online... do I have to?
MyAffair.com offers a "Price-Hiding" service for those merchants who do not feel like showing their prices to the public.  Please note that you will still be required to give us your prices for placement on our search engine, and that ALL your prices will be hidden... even any custom pricing that you may have set up.  Visit our "Internet Services" page from your member homepage for details.

How can I verify that my service is listed correctly on the booking engine?
Verifying your setup is extremely simple.  Simply click on the "Search by name" link on your member homepage to test your account.  Enter your business' name (or a portion of the name) to see if your service is listed.  You can browse your own listing, and even bid on your own services to ensure that our process is flawless.

Customers use the information displayed on your business listing to decide on which services to order.  We allow Merchants to upload images, documents, audio clips, and video clips for users to browse through.  Your portfolio can easily be set up on the "Colors & Content" page... simply select which files you want to display and they immediately appear on your site.

How do I accept online payments?
You can accept online payments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in one of four simple ways:

  1. Via our booking process
    Once you confirm your availability for an event, your customer will be able to place an order to your business for the agreed price.

  2. Via your business listing
    A "Send Payment" link is automatically added to every MyAffair.com business listing.  Customers can click it to instantly send you payments at any time.

  3. Via a banner on your existing website
    Send customers directly to your payment page by adding the "Instant Payment" banner from our Merchant Tools page.  Click here for the HTML banner code.

  4. Via a web link

Can Merchants review Customers?
Once a Customer tries to contact you, they are added to your "Gig Management" basket.  If this Customer has EVER booked anyone else through MyAffair.com, you will be able to check out the reviews made by the other Merchants that have dealt with that Customer.  You no longer have to worry about stingy club owners that don't want to pay at the end of the night!

How and when do I get paid?
MyAffair.com offers no-interest payment plans for its customers.  Every service is different, so at the time of the actual booking, customers not only decide on how many payments they would like to make but also on WHEN the Merchants receive the payments.  Customers can choose to pay the Merchants on a monthly basis until the date of the gig, or to pay the full amount when the services are rendered.  This decision depends on the Merchant's individual arrangements with the Customer.

Regardless of WHEN the Merchant is to be paid, Merchants can rest assured that the funds are secure before the services are rendered.  Customers are INSTANTLY charged so you no longer have to worry about customers with no money, credit reports, or bounced checks.  Every time a Customer authorizes your payment (monthly or otherwise), you will receive a check for half of the amount paid by the Customer.  The other half is retained until the service is performed.  MyAffair.com handles all the headaches of billing so you don't have to!  You can view your payments at any time by logging in and visiting our "Order History" page.  Please review our terms and conditions for further details.

What are "Affiliates" and "Account Managers"?
All Affiliates and/or Account Managers make money by referring users to MyAffair.com and/or by helping them to correctly use our site.  Your level of interaction is what defines which category best suits you, but one thing remains the same... the more users you sign up, the bigger the check every month!

  • Web Affiliates
    Users that refer others to our site through banners and links from other websites or via email.  Links, banners, and details can be found here.

  • Local Affiliates
    These users refer customers and merchants to the site via word-of-mouth, or by physically registering new users onto MyAffair.com.  These affiliates qualify for even more earnings by actively managing merchant accounts as a "Merchant Account Manager" (see below).

  • Merchant Account Managers
    Local Affiliates that PHYSICALLY register Merchants onto the site are given the privilege of logging in as these merchants, and manage those accounts.  Doing so allows them to earn twice as much as other affiliates.  To manage an account, you simply need to keep in contact with your referred Merchants to ensure that their account is properly set up and their availability is up to date.  You can make significant income by just contacting a few people on your free time!

Why should I register as, or become an Affiliate?

How do I become an Affiliate or Account Manager?
You need to register with MyAffair.com if you have not already done so.  Please note that if you are already registered, you do not need to re-register to get referral credit.  When you refer your first user, your account will be automatically converted to an Affiliate account.

How do I refer someone?
Making money has never been easier!  Here are a few ways:

  1. Word of mouth
    Simply tell your referrals to enter your USERNAME or EMAIL in the "Referred by" box when they register.

  2. From OUR website
    Visit the "Tell A Friend" page from your member homepage and refer several users at once.

  3. From YOUR website or via email
    Have your referrals visit "http://www.MyAffair.com/?by=xyz", where "xyz" is your USERNAME.  For details on referrals using links and banners, visit our "Web Affiliates" section.

  4. In person
    Log in (or register if you haven't already done so) and register the user yourself.  That's it!  Make sure the users have fully read and agreed to our terms and conditions before completing their registration.

    For Merchant referrals, better your chances of getting PAID by setting up their "Merchant Profile" and their "Business Listing" so they can begin receiving orders and get booked online.  You can also keep in contact with the Merchant and manage their account to receive the extra 10% management commission.  Remember, the better you market them, the more they make... and the more they make, the more you make!

What if the Merchants don't have a computer and/or Internet access?
No access, no problem!  MyAffair.com is structured to allow everyone to benefit from the services we offer.  By default, whoever is registered as the Merchant's "Account Manager" (initially, the "Local Affiliate") receives copies of their reservation attempts, cancellations, and confirmations.  You will have full access the Merchant's account and can work with the Merchants as needed.  As long as Account Managers have access to a computer, Merchants don't have to... imagine the possibilities!

You don't even have to meet the users in person.  All you need to do is have them visit "http://www.MyAffair.com/?by=xyz", where "xyz" is your USERNAME.  Email this link or post it on your webpage!  You can even tell your referrals to enter your USERNAME or EMAIL in the "Referred by" box when they register.  Details can be found on our "Web Affiliates" section.

Please note that by having users link to our site without your immediate assistance classifies you as an "Web Affiliate" and will ONLY qualify you for the 10% referral commission.  This user will NOT be added to your "Client Management" basket to receive the additional 10% account management commission.
